2021 Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge Virtual

The Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge road cycling ride returns as a virtual bike ride. The ride will feature 11,000 of climbing over a 105 mile course. There is also an option to add a ‘gravel’ segment on the course. In addition, there will be a shorter 50 mile route that features 4,500’ of climbing. The timeframe for the event is July 17th-25th.

The Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge is hosted by the Santa Cruz County Cycling Club

The combination of the CZU complex fires and Covid 19 added complexities to procuring our event permits this year. Please be advised that the 2021 SCMC Virtual Ride is a ‘Do It Yourself Ride’. Route descriptions reference hydration/nutrition/bathrooms along the routes for your comfort and aid. But these are not officially part of or recognized as part of this event. Please be gracious with your support of these facilities and businesses. There will be No Water Stops, No Staffed Rest Stops, No SAG and no on-site support for the riders.
